EBY is a Hebrew practice app. You sign in with your phone number. You talk with EBY, and EBY keeps the words from those conversations so you can practice them again.
What EBY collects
EBY stores your account and your practice in Supabase:
- Your phone number. Website signup also asks for your name and email.
- Transcripts of phone calls, and transcripts of practice you record in the browser.
- A measure of how long you spoke, saved as learner speech time.
- Flashcards, words from your conversations, lesson progress, and call summaries.
- Phone call audio. The phone bridge can save both sides of a call in Supabase Storage, with a database row that points at those files.
- A Google Calendar token, only if you choose to connect a calendar.
- The date you agreed to share speech with voice and language services, and the version of that agreement.
- If you subscribe in the Apple App Store, a record of that access: product, status, and expiry. EBY does not receive your card number. Access granted by a school or organization is stored the same way, without a card number.
Sharing with third-party AI
Before EBY sends your speech or practice text to a third-party AI service, the app asks you to agree. That agreement is stored with a version. If the version changes, EBY asks again. Until you agree, voice practice that needs those services stays off.
- OpenAI processes live voice, transcription, and some practice text.
- Anthropic can read a transcript to write flashcards and a short memory of the call, when that service is in use.
- Twilio carries the phone call. Audio is also handled by the phone bridge while the call is in progress.
- Supabase stores the account, transcripts, learner speech measures, and call recordings.
- Vercel hosts the website. Vercel Analytics measures visits to the site.
- Railway hosts the phone bridge.
- Google receives calendar access only if you connect a calendar. If Google Analytics is turned on, Google also receives visit measurements.
EBY does not sell your data.
How long EBY keeps it
EBY keeps this data while your account exists, so the next conversation can remember you. There is no separate expiry timer. When you delete your account, EBY deletes or anonymizes the data listed above, including transcripts and call recordings. A purchase stays on that deleted account, with your name and phone number removed, and cannot be moved to another phone. You can also stop sharing speech in Settings without deleting the account.
How to delete your account
Open Settings in EBY and choose Delete account. Confirm by typing DELETE. You can also email leah@speakeby.com and ask to be deleted.
Children
EBY is not for children under 13. Do not use EBY if you are under 13. The phone greeting also asks learners to confirm they are 16 or older.
